Bonds and overrides are common and frequent ballot measures. These initiatives are voter approved and bring in money beyond what the state provides to help fund numerous projects specific to the needs of local school districts. In 2017, the Phoenix Union High School District (PUHSD) bond and override came to the ballot with a $269 million bond and $25 million maintenance-and-operations override that would focus on maintaining smaller class sizes, improving technology and course offerings, maintaining and renovating school buildings, and purchasing new school buses.
Design Makes the Difference::
The visual goal of the print, direct mail, and web campaigns was to create a positive, bold, inspiring, and education-focused brand that communicated the impact and benefits of a ballot victory to the futures of students and their families. The bond and override passed with a strong 60% support.
